My name is Shelby Arnold, I was born in 1985. I have a BFA in Graphic Design from Pratt Institute [2007].
From 2007 - 2018, I was a paper engineer [as in pop-up books], illustrator, & graphic designer in the Hudson Valley & Brooklyn, NY.
In late 2018, I was disabled at the age of 33 by a rare illness which damaged nerves in my spinal cord [more info here]. Despite those events, I've stayed curious, and I'm always happy to share my knowledge and talk about ideas in arts, crafts, technology, mechanical engineering, interactive & experiential storytelling, and much more.
I currently live in Portland, Maine.
I'm a member of the Open Source Hardware Association, as well as a long-standing member of the Hackerspace NYCResistor [since 2009].
